You can volunteer at CVIM as often or as little as your schedule allows! Some positions require a commitment of at least once every two weeks in order to stay current with procedure. Aside from those positions, there is no minimum requirement. However, we do ask that you commit to a regular schedule to facilitate the care we provide to our patients and ensure the clinic is always fully staffed when open.

There are many ways to help at the healthcare center! In addition to clinical volunteers, CVIM needs plenty of support volunteers to help keep the healthcare center functioning smoothly. We utilize volunteers for eligibility screening, front office work, interpreting, fundraising, and social work, to name a few. For a full list of volunteer opportunities, click here.

Yes! CVIM provides training for volunteers. All volunteers will complete a general orientation followed by a department specific orientation that will acquaint you with the department in which you will work.

CVIM has implemented strict cleaning, social distancing, capacity regulations, mask mandates, and overall house rules that are designed to keep the volunteers, patients, and staff during these stressful times. Yes! CVIM has nearly 500 volunteers working all of the positions necessary to keep the clinic running on a daily basis. Depending on your volunteer position and availability, you may not be working at the same time as other volunteers who do your same job; however, the CVIM staff is always more than happy to assist you with any questions that may arise.

No! More than 65% of CVIM patients speak Spanish or another language, so bilingual volunteers are especially desirable and always in high demand. However, there are still hundreds of CVIM patients who primarily speak English. Volunteers working with Spanish-speaking patients can rest assured that a volunteer interpreter or bilingual staff person will be able to help bridge any language barriers.
