The driving force behind the care and compassion…
Por que ser voluntário na CVIM?
Volunteers are the driving force behind the care and compassion at CVIM. More than 400 volunteers donate nearly 30,000 hours of their time and talent each year. Without them, we would be unable to provide comprehensive health care to our patients in need. Both clinical and support volunteers work in every facet of the organization. If you are passionate about high quality healthcare for everyone, please get in touch.

Dr. Reitano, Volunteer Endocrinologist

“The reason that I, and all of the volunteers, keep returning is because of the positive environment at CVIM. Everyone who is here wants to be here and is enthusiastic – both the patients and the volunteers. It is a positive space where we can help those who need it.
I see that my patients are very grateful and happy to be here. They are appreciative that there is a doctor here who will listen and help them, and that they are receiving their treatment and medications free of charge.” – Dr. Reitano, Volunteer Endocrinologist
Josh, a volunteer nurse

Josh first reached out to CVIM about two years ago in 2018. He tells us, “When I started, I had just completed my first year as a nurse and I was shy about interpreting in Spanish because I am a person that stutters. I enjoy coming to CVIM because it is a positive nurturing environment, and is a source of inspiration for me to continue to develop my nursing and interpreting skills so I can help others even more. I decided to return to CVIM because the work that they do for the community means a lot to me and I am proud to be a part of it.”
Lisa: A nurse volunteer

Lisa is a nurse volunteer who first learned of CVIM over 20 years ago. After graduating nursing school about six years ago, she became a volunteer at CVIM. “I love the camaraderie amongst the volunteer team. The staff is extremely welcoming and inclusive – you never feel just like you’re just a volunteer, but that you’re an important member of the team. I felt safe and eager to return despite COVID-19 because of the great safety measures CVIM is taking to keep everyone safe. Here, I really feel like I am doing personally something good to help the community, and serve people that are marginalized.”
Dr. Siegfried

Dr. Siegfried has been volunteering at CVIM for about two years, and recently became a member of the Board of Directors. He says “I love the direct patient care, hands-on, and face-to-face aspects of practicing at CVIM. I get to spend as much time with my patients as they need, and help them get back to work.” As a physiatrist, Dr. Siegfried plays a critical role in CVIM’s Non-Opioid Pain Management Program. “The staff at CVIM are enthusiastic, and there is a noticeable family feeling amongst the team.”
