November, 2021

CVIM hosted our annual Harrison Society Event in November, celebrating donors who support CVIM with a gift of $1,000 or more each year.
In memory of Dr. Frank Harrison, a dedicated CVIM volunteer, each year we recognize a CVIM supporter who goes above and beyond for our mission and our patients. This year, we honored Dr. Peter Thompson, a long-time volunteer and staff dentist, who supports CVIM in more ways than can be counted. Congratulations to Dr. Pete!

Message spécial CVIM
June 4, 2020
Community Volunteers in Medicine exists to reduce healthcare disparities in our community. We bring together volunteers, donors, and community partners to serve low-income, uninsured families who have nowhere else to turn for care.
We take a moment to reflect on the state of our nation, to recognize the pain being felt across the country, to share our support for the Black community, and to reject all forms of racism, hate, violence, and bigotry. During this week when so many Americans are demanding to be fully seen, heard and included, CVIM affirms our longstanding vision for our role in our community.
May we have eyes to see those who are rendered invisible and excluded,
May we have open arms and hearts to reach out and include them,
May our healing hands touch their lives with love,
And in the process heal ourselves.
We will work to be agents of change, providing healthcare, hope and healing in a time when all three are so desperately needed.
COVID-19 Touches the CVIM Family
May 8, 2020

The CVIM family and local healthcare community recently lost a hero. The COVID-19 pandemic claimed one of our own. Kathy Flamm was a nurse practitioner who volunteered at CVIM for nearly 14 years. Those of you who were in the clinic on Monday or Wednesday evenings these past few years will certainly remember her. Kathy was a compassionate caregiver who loved working with our patients. She was an inspiration to patients, friends and fellow volunteers, serving as a role model for perseverance in the face of immense challenges.
Most recently, Kathy worked in a long-term care facility and did not back away from the challenges presented there by this pernicious virus. Unfortunately, this was the obstacle she could not overcome. Kathy will be missed. We send our most sincere sympathies to her family. May Kathy’s legacy encourage all of us to fight on, together, in service to others.
CVIM Mourns Passing of Founder and Philanthropist Elizabeth R. Moran
January 25, 2020

Elizabeth “Betty” R. Moran, whose lifetime of community service and philanthropic leadership is evident at Community Volunteers in Medicine (CVIM) and throughout the Chester County region, died peacefully on Thursday, Jan. 23. She was 89. As one of CVIM’s founders, Betty was deeply engaged as a Board member, fundraiser extraordinaire, and consummate champion for our patients.
Betty was a social entrepreneur who believed deeply in CVIM’s mission to serve the people of the Chester County region by creating access to quality healthcare offered by compassionate clinical and non-clinical volunteers. Betty talks about the founding of CVIM in this short video clip.
Betty’s generosity and personal commitment to our organization was extraordinary, her impact is immeasurable, and our appreciation goes far beyond what words can express. We are proud and honored to be part of her legacy.
Charitable contributions in Betty’s memory can be made here or by contacting Julie Rusenko, Vice President of Development, 610-836-5990, ext. 108 or jrusenko@cvim.org.
