Dental Care For Those Who Need It Most
Services dentaires
Oral health is a vital piece of overall health, and low-income workers are unlikely to have dental insurance to help pay for preventative hygiene and expensive procedures. CVIM’s 7-operatory dental suite, two dental satellite locations, and extensive dental outreach programs provide comprehensive, general, and specialty dentistry, screenings, and treatments to more than 4,600 uninsured adults and children annually.
CVIM maintains satellite locations for dental treatment at Surrey Services in Devon, PA and St. Rocco’s Parish in Avondale, PA. We also partner with school districts in Southern Chester County to provide dental care to school aged children who otherwise may not receive oral health education and treatment. The CVIM dental team also participates in numerous outreach events throughout the year both within and beyond the clinic. Most notable are Give Kids a Smile in December, Sealant Saturday and Community Smiles in February, as well as Give Vets a Smile Day in November.

Britany

During the school year, young Britany comes to CVIM on bus from Southern Chester County along with other children who need dental care. Recently, Britany’s dad called to let us know she was experiencing dental pain. He was recently unemployed due to the COVID-19 Pandemic and had no transportation. Dr. Ram talked to Britany’s father during a telehealth visit and determined the pain was coming from the tooth where Britany needed a root canal. Dr. Ram prescribed antibiotics and the CVIM dispensary prepared the medication. One of our dental assistants, observing social distancing guidelines, delivered the medication along with a gift card to buy food for the family.
Angela

Angela is a dental and orthodontic patient of CVIM who has been undergoing treatment for several years for severe overcrowding and an overbite. When she began her orthodontic treatment plan several years ago, there was a wait list, and the severity of her case meant it would take years. She was scheduled to have her braces removed in March, but the COVID-19 pandemic postponed her appointment. We were thrilled that she was able to complete her treatment with Dr. Joseph Virgulti, CVIM’s volunteer orthodontist in June. It was just in time for her birthday, and now she is all smiles underneath her mask!
