Helen F. Heidelbaugh, RN, President and CEO

In 1997, Helen became the founding president and CEO of CVIM. She is a registered nurse and graduate of the Harrisburg Hospital School of Nursing with diverse clinical experience that includes acute care, long-term care, and health administration as well as an entrepreneur having owned her own business. She has a bachelor’s degree in health care management from Lebanon Valley College and a Master of Science degree in Organizational Dynamics from the University of Pennsylvania.

For 12 years prior to starting CVIM, she held a variety of positions at The Hospital and Health System Association of Pennsylvania as Vice President of Patient Care Services and Professional Education and later became Vice President of Community Services for the Institute for Healthy Communities. Helen has been active in a variety of community organizations as a volunteer and chair of a number of committees, including the Chester County United Way Affordable Medical Care Task Force Action Group. She has served as an adjunct professor for Lebanon Valley College and has been active in its Alumni Council. She has also served as a member of the Board of Managers of Homeland Center, a long-term care facility.

She serves as Chairman of the Board of the Pennsylvania Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA) Foundation raising funds to support scholarships for HOSA students desiring to pursue a career in healthcare. She is a founding member of the Advisory Board of the Free Clinic Association of PA; is a member of the Wheels of Wellness Foundation, the Healthy Start Advisory Board, and the Paoli Hospital Community Services Committee; and is active in other church and community affairs.

In 1991, Helen was responsible for starting the nation’s only Governor’s School for Health Professions at the University of Pittsburgh. Rising juniors from across the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania can apply to this five-week experiential learning program to explore numerous health care professions.

Helen has received numerous honors including the Philadelphia Business Journal 25 Women of Distinction award in 1999. In September 2000, she was recognized by the March of Dimes Salute to Women of Achievement for Chester County. In 2002, she received a citation from the Lebanon Valley College Alumni Association as an outstanding alumnus and the first continuing education student to be recognized. She was recently honored in April 2006 as “Citizen of the Year” by the Boy Scouts of America, Chester County Council.
