Sixth Annual CVIM Golf Classic Raises Record Funds
The day dawned hot and hazy on June 19, 2007 as the Golf Classic Committee and volunteers arrived at Applebrook Golf Club to set up for the sixth annual event. The high temperatures would only be eclipsed by the outpouring of tremendous support displayed by longtime friends and new supporters of this annual Companies of Caring fundraiser.
The event which drew 118 golfers divided between morning and afternoon flights, proved to be the most successful ever, netting record proceeds of $244,000 and bringing the six-year total to $869,000.
Golfers and guests enjoyed a live auction featuring rounds at prestigious golf courses and other recreational packages, contests and a buffet dinner. Generous businesses, corporations and individuals sponsored the event, including Siemens Medical Solutions Health Services, Malvern, Title Sponsor, an honor they will continue for the next three years. Citadel served as Honorary Chair Sponsor and Brushwood Stable, Paoli was Gold Sponsor.
At the shotgun start of the tournament, the Vincent G. Bell, Jr. Tournament Trophy was presented to Jeffery L. March, President & CEO of Citadel and CVIM Board member. Plans are underway for the seventh annual Golf Classic to be held on Tuesday, June 17, 2008 at Applebrook.
