Annual Recognition Dinner

CVIM’s Many Volunteers are Honored at the Ninth Annual Recognition Dinner

On Thursday, May 3, 2007, CVIM hosted its ninth Volunteer Recognition Dinner at the Desmond Hotel in Malvern.  There were 185 people in attendance including some spouses of volunteers, Board members and CVIM staff.  It is always a privilege to bring all of our volunteers together in a social event such as this.  Each day of the week is represented by a special team of volunteers that do not know those who volunteer on other days of the week. The staff recognized each group of volunteers that come regularly to provide services.  It is a special privilege to thank them at this annual event.

After the cocktail reception and dinner, Barbara Holland, Deputy General Counsel for the Governor’s Office addressed the audience and commended the volunteers for their commitment and service to the uninsured residents of Chester County.  Ms. Holland gave an overview of the Prescription for Pennsylvania and the unique challenges that the Commonwealth is facing relative to the delivery of healthcare services to all citizens.

Senator Dinniman also brought greetings to the group and acknowledged the great work being done at CVIM.

The staff presented Joseph Abbot, M.D. and his wife Bunny Abbott with a special Board of Trustees’ Resolution recognizing their ten years of service to Community Volunteers in Medicine and wished them much happiness in their retirement as volunteers.  Dr. and Mrs. Abbott now spend much of their year in Florida.

Carla Sabrina-Pomponi, an instructor of the Pro Musica Studio in Kennett joined three students to provide music by a wonderful flute quartet during dinner.  Our gratitude is expressed to the following students: Lauren Gerson, Avon Grove High School; Tori Emmons and Hannah Locke of Kennett Square High School.  CVIM serves a number of students from these two school districts.

At this event, CVIM was able to announce the kick off of our tenth anniversary year that will honor our volunteers at the Aronomink Golf Club on December 14, 2007.
