In January of 2002, CVIM launched “Companies of Caring” with the help of a number of corporate leaders. This program is designed to engage and recognize companies and their leaders in many sectors including banking, finance, biotech, retail/restaurant and technology. Corporate CEOs and other leaders have led the charge. Corporate giving to CVIM accounts for between 12-19% of all donations received annually since opening our doors in 1998. The national average for corporate giving to non-profit healthcare organizations is 4 to 5%. The success of the Companies of Caring program is attributed to CVIM's basic mission of serving the healthcare needs of hard working individuals ~ giving them a hand up and not a hand out!
In FY2011 local companies donated more than $478,000 in direct gifts and event sponsorships plus numerous hours of volunteer time, as well as in-kind gifts of products and services. In addition, $1.4 million worth of prescription medications were donated by 30 pharmaceutical companies last year.
CVIM remains grateful for this huge collaborative effort that is making a difference in the lives of the working poor.
