On Friday, December 2nd, a very successful and fun 2011 Give Kids a Smile (GKAS) Day was held at Community Volunteers in Medicine (CVIM). This event, sponsored by the Dental Society of Chester County and Delaware County served 33 children who were transported to CVIM for free dental checkups. According to Alberta Landis, CVIM VP of Dental Services, dentists and hygienists provided more than $12,000 worth of dental services during GKAS Day.
GKAS Day was very rewarding for those volunteers involved, but especially for the children. Their dental health got a big boost under the care of the dental professionals; their social health was enhanced through the activities provided by AAA Mid-Atlantic while they waited for their appointments; and their general self-esteem was increased by leaving with healthier, happier smiles! Bountiful thanks are extended to The Dental Society, AAA and GSK who assisted CVIM in the orchestration of a GKAS Day!
